Technics SL-100C

1,099.00

The Technics SL-100C turntable is a direct-drive semi-automatic model inheriting the technologies accumulated during the development of the legendary SL-1200 series. The Technics SL-100C turntable is the little sister of the Technics SL-1500C , whose design it takes up with the exception of the cartridge and the integrated phono pre-amp. Designed for use at home in a hi-fi system rather than for clubs, the Technics SL-100C turntable comes with an Audio Technica AT-VM95C cartridge pre-mounted.

PREMIUM CLASS DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE SYSTEM SL-100C

“The huge success of the SL-1500C, offering a fully featured package for the dedicated hi-fi enthusiast, with all the core Technics turntable technologies, has shown we have hit the mark within a popular and competitive turntable class,” says European Technics product manager Frank Balzuweit. “The demand for this high-quality ‘plug’n’play’ turntable – having exceeded our own expectations – is still undiminished even to this day. However, there is still a strong appetite from the market to deliver a similarly attractive package at an even more affordable price.”

To deliver a cost-effective solution without significant compromise, the new SL-100C comes with an on-board pickup cartridge – the Audio-Technica VM95C, offering sonic finesse to satisfy the demands of real music lovers. The conical stylus of the VM95C ensures precise tracking and detail retrieval from the vinyl grooves, while the cartridge’s technical characteristics mean it is widely compatible with typical Phono MM (moving magnet) inputs found on hi-fi amplifiers.

As a ‘real’ Technics turntable, the SL-100C impresses with the same sophisticated, iron-coreless direct drive motor with motor control to ensure absolutely smooth rotational stability. A solid two-layer chassis ensures a meticulous tracking process, free from external vibrations, and the highly precise S-shaped aluminium tonearm is capable of gleaning the most subtle music nuances out of every vinyl disc. Even more, the automatic tonearm lift (which can be turned off) that is activated at the end of the vinyl’s groove prevents unnecessary needle wear-out after finishing each side of an LP.

The new Technics SL-100C direct drive turntable is a highly attractive solution for all hi-fi oriented vinyl afficionados looking for a “typical” Technics turntable at a highly accessible price point.

Key Features:

  • Coreless direct drive motor, achieving stable rotation that is free from cogging and has powerful torque
  • Highly sensitive yet robust S-shaped aluminium tonearm
  • Two-layer platter with improved vibration-damping performance
  • High-rigidity cabinet and high-damping insulator for thorough shut-out of vibrations, ensuring a smooth vinyl-tracking process
  • Audio-Technica AT-VM95C pickup cartridge on-board for ease of setup
  • Tonearm auto-lift for minimising needle wear-out

The Latest Coreless Direct Drive Motor Achieves
High-precision Stable Rotation

The technologies acquired through the development of the SL-1200 Series and the high-end SL-1000R model were lavishly inserted into the motor drive unit, a key part of the turntable. The motor exclusively tunes the single-rotor, coreless direct drive motor adopted by the SL-1200GR in order to read the high rotation accuracy and high-precision signals of the record. Optimal motor control is conducted for the inertial mass of the two-layer structure platter on which the vinyl record is placed with deadening rubber on the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance in the aluminium die-cast platter to eliminate the rotation irregularity called cogging.

Accurately Reads Signals from the Groove on the Record

The tonearm is a static-balance universal S-shape tonearm, another Technics tradition. By adopting a high-precision bearing using the same gimbal suspension construction and machined housing as the SL-1200 Series, high initial sensitivity is achieved. The aluminium die-cast chassis is rigidly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS-mixed with glass fiber to achieve a two-layer construction. The insulator is comprised of a spring and rubber to provide optimal vibration-damping characteristics.

Equipped with Audiophile-Grade Cartridge

The SL-100C comes preinstalled with an Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, so you can listen to your favorite tunes in high fidelity with minimal set up. The tone arm height can be easily adjusted within a range of 6 mm, enabling the use of various other phono cartridges.

Auto Lifter Minimises Wear on Records and Stylus

When the tonearm reaches the end of the record, the Auto Lifter function automatically raises the cartridge. This prevents unnecessary wear on your valuable vinyl records and stylus. By embedding the Auto Lifter function in the base portion of the tonearm, it eliminates impacts to the tonearm. Due to a simple design that doesn’t use motor power, there is no electrical or vibrational impact and it will not prevent the movement of the tonearm. In response to requests from many users regarding the Auto Lifter function, a design that prioritises sound quality was adopted. The functions required to playback records were kept to a bare minimum, achieving simple and easy-to-use operability.

Designed for Functional Beauty

The SL-100C sports a simplistic visual design without unnecessary frills, while retaining the high quality operational feel that is a Technics tradition. Its elegant minimalist appearance will enhance your listening experience.
